Wanda "Faye" Meyering Urfer Murdaugh nee Taylor, age 93 passed away at home on May 6, 2026. She was born Sunday, August 21,1932 to Jesse and Myrtle Taylor in Kentucky.
Faye graduated from Olivet Nazarene University in 1954 and continued her education at the University of Illinois, obtaining her Master of Education in 1958. Faye worked in education for 38 years; as a teacher, a librarian, and a Learning Center Director. She encouraged all to pursue higher education, pointing many to attend her beloved Alma Mater, Olivet. Faye continually supported ONU through event attendance and annual contributions.
Faye lived an amazing life serving God through it all. She was known for loving her family, her church, coffee and chocolate; but especially loved spending time with her grandkids.
Her daughters cannot remember a morning that they didn't find their mother reading her Bible, doing devotions, and praying for her family on her knees in the front room by her favorite chair. She read through the Bible 41 times. One of her favorite verses was Isaiah 46:3-4 "...I have created you and cared for you since you were born. I will be your God through all your lifetime, yes even when your hair is white with age. I made you and I will care for you. I will carry you along and be your Savior."
She loved serving her Savior and her church, attending the Chicago Heights Church of the Nazarene all her life. There she served as a Sunday School teacher for over 70 yrs, a board member, and a Sunday School superintendent. She never missed an event, often bringing her famous homemade brownies.
Faye loved having people in her home for a meal, a visit, or as a second home. She never met a stranger and served meals to as many as she could, as often as she could. She was often hosting pastors, missionaries, evangelists, Impact teams, and numerous other church groups.
Harv and Faye opened their home to many young adults, "kids" to them, for a summer or a season. Later in life she traveled on 17 mission trips taking her to 4 continents and 19 countries. During these trips she served those in need. She cooked for the team, taught sewing and computer basics, and shared many bible lessons. She even set up a library on one of the mission trips- her favorite! But she cherished most, getting to share one trip with her granddaughter, Taylor.

Murdaugh, Jr.; Daughters, Kimberly Williams-Meyering of Bourbonnais, IL and Melanie Hale of Chicago Heights, IL; Sister Carolyn Welch-Seyfert of Kankakee IL; Grandchildren, Bryant D.
