Thomas W. Kataras

Tom Kataras of Jupiter, FL went home to be with his Lord on Tuesday, February 11,2025 at the age of 75.

Beloved husband of Colletta (nee Rauch). Eldest son of Tom Sr. and Janet Kataras. Dear Father of the Late TJ, Jason(April) and Peter(Sara) and loving grandpa to Colton, Wyatt, Wylie, and Ethan.

Tom lived in Homewood for over 50 years and was owner of Tom's Family Restaurant, Catering on Ridge, and previous owner of Lassen's Tap. He was a Homewood Village Trustee, member of Izaak Walton, Member of Glory to God Church in Tinley Park and Divine Savior in West Palm Beach. He was forever a die hard Bears fan.

Tom was an avid boater. He enjoyed his time with the Lake Michigan Yacht Club as well as cruising the warm waters of Florida. He fulfilled a lifelong dream of completing America's Great Loop in his trawler and was an active member in the Cruisers Association. He and his first mate, Colletta, had many adventures together on the open water. In recent years, he has been farming and has become a legendary grain cart driver and enjoyed this greatly.

Tom lived life to the fullest. Between cooking, boating, pickleball, travel, and spending quality time with his friends and family. He could have a conversation with just about anyone and see the best in people. His enthusiasm for life was contagious and left lasting impact and memories with all he came in contact.

A memorial visitation for Tom will be held on June 6, 2025 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Tews-Ryan Funeral Home, 18230 Dixie Highway, Homewood, IL. 60430. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2025 at Glory to God Lutheran Church, 18401 66th Ave., Tinley Park, IL. beginning at 10:30 a.m.
