Theodore J. Kalinowski

Theodore “Ted” James Kalinowski, 82, passed away at his home in Homewood, Illinois, on September 24, 2026.

Born on August 27, 1944, Ted was the son of the late Theodore G. Kalinowski and Phyllis Kalinowski (née Stewart). He graduated from Thornton Township High School and made his home in the Homewood community.

In 1970, Ted married Adele (née Toomey) Crossin, with whom he shared 35 years of marriage until her passing in 2005.

Ted was a devoted family man whose greatest joy came from the time he spent with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He gave his family a lifetime of treasured memories through vacations and camping trips, summers spent eating ice cream around the pool, and holidays filled with homemade food, laughter, and joy. His love was expressed through the time he gave, the traditions he created, and the many ways he brought his family together.

A devout Catholic, Ted was a longtime parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Homewood. His faith remained an important and steady presence throughout his life. His family takes comfort in knowing that he has been reunited with the loved ones who went before him and welcomed into God’s eternal care.

Ted is survived by his son, Thomas Crossin; his daughter, Debra Kalinowski; his grandchildren, Kimberly Miller, Laura Johnson, Erica Delacruz, Chris Corning, and Nicole Kalinowski; and his great-grandchildren, Ryan, Wade, Loki, Emily-Rayne, Bonnie, and Chevy. He is also survived by his sisters, Shelia McGuffin and Sandra Baker.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Adele; his daughter, Grace Niemiec; his son, Edward Kalinowski; his grandson, Stephen “Chevy” Corning; his sister, Noreen; his brother, Walter; and his parents.

A private family ceremony and burial will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery in Calumet City, IL on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.

Ted will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever held in the hearts of those who were blessed to call him Dad, Papa, Grandpa, Great-Grandpa, brother, and friend.
