Suzanne "Sue" K. Detrick

Suzanne Kay Detrick (78), of Homewood, Illinois passed away peacefully on November 4, 2025, after a battle with pancreatic cancer.

Sue was born (10/11/1947) to dec. Harold and dec. Twila Marie Schumacher and raised in Evergreen Park, IL with her siblings: dec. Ron (dec. Kathy), Gary (Lynn), dec. Galen (Karen), Mark (Debbi), Rick (Lisa), and dec. Harold (Dawnn) Schumacher.

Sue was the dedicated wife of John Detrick for 55 years, and the proud mother of Katie (Bill Rice), Karyn (Andres Paz), and Annie. She was a cherished grandmother of three – Carter, Raphaelle and Rocco – and a dear aunt to many nieces and nephews. She had a deep love of family, both blood and chosen, and relished time spent together.

Sue was a friend to all and a stranger to none (as her gift of gab encouraged everyone to share). Sue D – the OG minivan maven, steering wheel dancer and finger conductor, wreath-maker, lover of the arts, source of shortbread and waffles – was a patient and non-judgmental presence. She was a force of nature with a kind, warm and selfless heart.

Sue's presence in the community will be greatly missed as she offered her heart and soul to numerous organizations and social groups: FCC (Flossmoor Community Church), PEO (Philanthropic Education Organization), Bogey Babes golf group, Flower Depot chicks, and the Bunco gals, to name a few.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Flossmoor Community Church with a reception to follow at 2:00 PM across the street at the FCC Community House, 847 Hutchinson Road, Flossmoor, Illinois.
