Stephen R. Drummond of Olympia Fields, born Dec. 23, 1949, passed at home Dec. 28, 2020.
Preceded in death by parents Selwyn and Virginia Drummond and older brother David.
He was a loving husband to Jacqueline for 20 years. He is survived by his sister Susan (Don) Savage, sister-in-law (Judy Vanderheiden), in-laws Judy(Jim) Balsley and Bob (Donna) Hayenga, nieces and nephews Nancy, Carolyn, Lisa, Billie, Dan, Sam and Lisa, grandchildren Molly, Zoe, Skye, Kate, Lydia, Kennedy and Emerson and step-father to Andrea (Shawn) Williams.
Born in Seattle, WA. Upon his father's discharge from the Navy the family moved to Kankakee, IL, where his father established his medical practice. Stephen graduated salutatorian in 1968 from Kankakee Eastridge High School and continued his education at the University of Wisconsin Madison earning a BA in Science in 1972 and a BS in Education in 1975. He taught school for a short time in St. Anne and Clifton, IL, before starting a Quality Control Manager career at NutraSweet company and then IMTT Lemont before retirement.
He loved playing tennis, a sport he began in high school and continued to enjoy throughout his life. He made many dear friends at the Park Forest Tennis Club and all became like family.
One of his proudest moments was being a member of the Kankakee Little League team that played in the championship game of the Little League World Series in 1962 in Williamsport, PA. The team didn't come home with the victory but Stephen did come home with a cherished autograph from Jackie Robinson.
He loved his life and lived it to the fullest taking many road trips with his wife to as many National Parks and scenic venues as they could and having wonderful Drummond family reunions in Door County, WI. He also enjoyed riding his Harley with his wife as his loyal passenger hanging on for dear life. His "children" Snowflake, Bandit, Lily and Daisy added much love, devotion and companionship to his daily life and completed his family.
He will be dearly missed by all.
Interment will be held at a later date.
