With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Ronald Charles Seipp " Rocket", at his home on December 18th, 2024, where he was surrounded by family. After 91 years of richly seasoned life and having given all, he could in love, wisdom, and character to those he most cherished, he now joins his wife Rose Mary and his parents Mae Seipp née Silovic and Charles Seipp, in God's embrace. He leaves behind his beloved daughter, Melissa Barrett née Seipp, son in law Kevin and his grandchildren Joshua & Teresa to carry forth stories and memories of his life.
Born in Chicago to Croatian & German parents, Ronald joined the United States Air Force after graduating from Parker high school and through exercise of his sharp mind and jovial spirit rose quickly to become among the youngest to attain the rank of Master Sergeant. Through his time in service to his country, he traveled to Europe, Africa, and the Middle East and spoke fondly of his time abroad. For historians, he was a descendant of the Conrad Seipp Brewery founded in 1854.
Upon return to the United States, he became employed with Litel Engineering where a beautiful Irish lass Rose, caught his eye and his heart and they married soon after. Ron enrolled at the Illinois Institute of Technology where he completed his Bachelor of Science degree majoring in physics with a minor in economics. Whilst in night school, he joined IIT's Human Resources department where he traveled the country visiting major colleges and universities recruiting high level scientists for the institute. This led to a full career as a Vice President of Human Resources until his retirement.
Retirement allowed Ronald to channel his energies into a newfound passion for golf and full expression of his social vitality, becoming an accomplished member of Calumet Country Club and a fixture of local life in Homewood-Flossmoor. He was never more fulfilled than with the opportunity to weave himself in and out of the lives of those he considered friends, and to dote on his grandchildren in ways both grand and small. Ronald was never short of a smile, a topic of conversation, or a characteristic swagger that endeared him to everyone he would meet.
Those wishing to make a contribution in memory of Ronald in lieu of flowers, may consider donating in his name to either Elim Christian Services the fund for Kathy Larson (https://www.elimcs.org/donate/) or the Robert J. Havey Institute for Global Health (https://www.globalhealth.northwestern.edu/giving/index.html) . A visitation will be held on Sunday, December 22nd at the Tews-Ryan Funeral Home 18230 Dixie Highway in Homewood IL. Funeral Monday with 9:15am prayers at the Funeral Home to St. Veronica Church (Infant Jesus of Prague) on Monday, December 23rd at 10:00am.
