Robert W Zimny Sr

Robert W. Zimny, Sr., formerly of Hazel Crest, IL, passed away peacefully at age 92 on October 18, 2024.

He was a loving father to his son, Robert (Joan), and a devoted grandfather to Robert and Julianne (Jon). His two great grandchildren brought him great joy. Robert, who was known as Bob, is the son of the late Nick and Julia Zimny and brother of Jerome, Eleanor, and Frances.

Bob graduated from Thornton High School. A few years later, he was proud to serve his country as a medic for the United States Army in Korea. When he was young, he enjoyed riding motorcycles and racing go-karts. Bob spent his free time playing golf and bowling with good friends, and was a member of several bowling leagues. He rolled two three-hundred games. Bob was a friendly, generous person, and he will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Visitation will be at Tews-Ryan Funeral Home 18230 Dixie Highway in Homewood on Wed. October 23 from 10 am to 12 pm, with a service at 12:00pm. A private family interment will follow.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation can be made to the American Heart Association.
