Robert H. Van Slette age 93. Loving husband of the late Kathleen nee Hammerschmidt. Long time resident of Hazel Crest, IL. Passed away December 26, 2022. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy as a Second-Class Petty Officer from 1949-1953. He retired from Nabisco after 32 years of service and then became a volunteer at South Suburban Hospital for over 25 years. Loving father to David (Donna), Pam (Jim) Van Slette, Bob (Debbie), and Theresa. Loving grandfather to Heather (Bobby), Tanya (Kevin), Sean (Ashley), D.J. (Carrie), Mark (Cindi), Jeffrey, Patrick, the late James. Loving great grandfather to Madison, Alyssa, Paige, Annalee, Cecilia, Samantha, Jadelyn, Lincoln, Sawyer, and Aurora. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, and tinkering around the house. Resting at the Tews-Ryan Funeral Home, 18230 Dixie Hwy, Homewood, IL 60430. Visitation Friday, December 30, 2022, from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Prayers at Funeral Home Saturday, December 31 at 9:15 a.m. Funeral Mass will be held at at St. Anne Church, 16777 Dixie Highway Hazel Crest, IL 60429, at 10:00 a.m. Entombment to follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
