Robert W. Frederickson

Robert W. Frederickson ("Bob" and "Pop") passed away peacefully with his daughters, Cathy, Terese, and Pat by his side, just shy of his 90th birthday. He is now with the love of his life, Frances (Garcia) Frederickson, and his beloved first-born daughter Ann Koranda. Pop was the Frederickson and Koranda families' anchor, much like he was for his mother, Lucille Torres (deceased), his brother Charlie Fredrickson (deceased), and sisters Helena (Bruce) Earl and Dorothy Hall. Pop had the biggest heart and was generous with his time and attention to his grandchildren, Patrick (Ari), Ryan, Jazz, Jonathan, and Caroline. A proud Marine, he worked for ACME Steel as a sheet metal worker for 40 years. He was handy with car repairs, plumbing, and carpentry. He was always improving his and his daughters' homes from basements to attics and outdoor spaces. During his retirement, he perfected his culinary skills. Fran/Mom was most appreciative! Three years ago, Pop had a stroke that left him with severe language aphasia. Having just retired from being a special education teacher, Cathy became his short order cook, PT, OT, and speech language therapist, as well as his daily companion. Terese managed evenings and overnight care. When Pop was ill during the last several weeks, Pat, Jazz, and Diane Jakubik (chosen sister) helped with his care. Always by his side was his protective dog, Belle. Bob was honorably discharged from the Marine Corps in 1962, where he was a PFC combat engineer, carpenter, and Reservist. He believed "once a Marine, always a Marine. Oorah!" Bob was brother-in-law to Marylou (Tony) Alilovich, who, along with her children (Mark, Linda, and Christine) will miss him. He also leaves behind his nephew, Michael (Donna) Earl and great niece and nephew Logan and Lauren. Bob also leaves behind his loved and respected sons-in-law, Tom Koranda and Geoff Amann (Pat's husband), and lifelong friends, most notably, Bob Gonzalez and his friends from Steelworkers Organization of Active Retirees.
