Robert J. Butler

Robert J. Butler, age 85, of Flossmoor, Illinois passed away on July 13.  He was the beloved husband of Margaret (Peggy) Butler to whom he was married for 62 years. Bob is also survived by his 7 children: Terri (Bob Bodee) Butler, Joe Butler, Jim (Janet) Butler, Sheila Butler, Tim (Linda) Butler, Mike Butler, and Peter Butler.

A proud grandfather, Bob loved sharing sports, funny stories and ice cream with his grandchildren, Bradley Bodee, Colleen Bodee, Mairead Butler, Carys Butler, Fisk Butler, Breanna Butler, Bria Thompson, Peyton Butler and Jordyn Butler.

As an Attorney/CPA, Bob had a tax and law office in Flossmoor for over 40 years. He attended St. Ignatius College Prep in Chicago and then graduated from Loyola University Chicago twice with degrees in accounting and law. (Go Ramblers!) He served on the Homewood-Flossmoor High School board for 27 years. (Go Vikings!) He was also a long time Homewood Rotary member and served on the Infant Jesus of Prague Fiscal Board.

Bob was very active in life. He ran several Chicago marathons and was an avid bike rider and swimmer. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed watching classic comedies such as Monty Python, Caddyshack and The Big Lebowski. He could recite all the words to the intro theme song of his favorite cartoon, Super Chicken.

Bob loved spending time at the family lake house in Presque Isle, Wisconsin where he would enjoy riding his bike for miles towards his favorite ice cream shops. (Again, with the ice cream? He really loved ice cream.)

Memorial visitation Thursday July 21, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Memorial mass at the Infant Jesus of Prague Church in Flossmoor.

Donations in his memory can be made to Respond Now in Chicago Heights, Illinois if you feel inclined.
