Robert J. Arneberg

After a lifetime of health challenges, Robert's kind and generous heart finally gave out on May 16th, 2025. Robert was 68 years old born 5/31/56. Bob never met a stranger and always brought a smile to the face of those around him. He is survived by his wife Janine Hickey Arneberg and two sons, Martin and Daniel.

Robert was born in the West Beverly neighborhood of Chicago to the late Robert N. Arneberg and the late Margaret (Birge) Arneberg. One of six siblings, he grew up in the St. John Fisher Parish (Class of '71), where he formed many lifelong friendships. He graduated from Brother Rice High School (Class of '75) and attended Chicago State University and DePaul University—often joking he had visited many more!

Janine and Robert were married in 1989 and made their home in Homewood, Illinois, where they raised their boys since 1992. Together they built a warm, welcoming home, where their sons grew up surrounded by laughter, compassion and unwavering support.

Bob worked for Panduit Corporation in Tinley Park for over 30 years. His uplifting spirit and contagious good cheer made him a beloved member of the Homewood community. He was an active volunteer, coaching for Homewood Baseball, teaching religious education at St. Joseph's in Homewood, and proudly supporting his sons' athletic and musical pursuits. He enjoyed classic films, show tunes, spending time in nature, and being with his many good friends.

He will be deeply missed by his siblings: Diane (Joe) Noth, Jimmy Arneberg, Donald Arneberg, Donna (Mike) Thomas, and Louis (Kathe) Arneberg. He was a beloved cousin to many and is also mourned by his in-laws: Jennifer (Roger) Setzke, Jill Topf, Jamie (Jim) Manahan, and Matthew (Terri) Hickey, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and his faithful dog, Bodie.

The family is eternally grateful to the medical professionals at Advocate South Suburban Hospital, including the ER, ICU, and Hospice staff who lovingly and skillfully cared for Robert in his final days.

A memorial visitation for close friends and family will be held at Tews-Ryan funeral home on Wednesday, 5/28 from 5-7pm with a memorial service beginning at 7pm.

Details for a celebration of Robert's well-lived life will be shared at a later date; all who knew and loved him are welcome.
