Rita M. Ducat

Rita Marie Ducat (Fogarty), age 74, of Flossmoor, passed away on March 23, 2025, following a thirty year battle with multiple sclerosis. Rita was the beloved wife of Dennis Ducat, loving mother of Richard (Chrissy), Diana (Marc), and Garrett (Lindsey) Ducat;  cherished grandmother of Marco, Niccolo and Liviana;  dear sister of Carol Copak and Jean Grish; fond aunt of many nieces and nephews.

Rita was a graduate of Thornton Township High School and Fox Business College.  She was a legal secretary in Chicago's Loop neighborhood prior to becoming an administrative assistant at Illinois Bell Telephone. She spent many years as a Cub Scout den mother and as a volunteer educator and storyteller at Infant Jesus of Prague school. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, cooking, animals, gardening, reading, and helping people.

Rita will be affectionately remembered for her kind and helpful nature. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

A visitation was held Friday, March 28 from 2:00 – 6:00 PM at Tews-Ryan Funeral Home 18230 Dixie Hwy, Homewood, IL 60430. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations to the South Suburban Humane Society of a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
