Richard L. Musto

Born in Medford, Massachusetts to Elizabeth Musto (nee Mercadante) and Theodore Musto. Richard was a 1953 Graduate of the University of Arizona, B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Korea with the Army Corps of Engineers. Richard retired as Vice-President of Combustion Engineering at ABB Raymond after over 40 years of service. Brother of Ted, Mary, Pauline, and Adeline. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Louise Musto (nee Hertsted); children Ted (Sandy), Paul (Angie), Andrea (Dave), John (Amy), and Tom (Lori); grandchildren Elizabeth, Katherine, Lauren, Justin, Jennifer, Jessica, Josh, James, Madeline, Jackson, Graham, and Andy; and great grandchild Elijah. Richard was a loving family man, an avid tennis player, cyclist, wood worker/carver. He always enjoyed working through challenging problems, whether at work on large industrial equipment or at home fixing a car, remodeling, adding an addition onto the house, or helping his children or grandchildren with homework. Richard was a skilled engineer and inventor, holding over eight patents for innovative industrial manufacturing processes. He was a Professional Engineer and a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers for over 60 years.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 31st, 2025, with a Catholic Funeral Mass held at 11:00 a.m. at the Tews-Ryan Funeral Home, 18230 S. Dixie Hwy, Homewood, Illinois 60430. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the American Cancer Society at www.donate.cancer.org .
