Richard K. Finchum

Richard "Rick" Kenneth Finchum,72, of East Hazel Crest, passed away on June 25th, 2025. Born December 6th, 1952, in Harvey IL, and raised in the Phoenix neighborhood of Chicago. A proud member of the East Hazel Crest American Legion Post 1139.

Rick is survived by his devoted, love of his life, partner in crime wife, Patricia, of 38 years, devoted nieces Isabel & Rachael, devoted nephews Matt & Ricky, and loving sisters-in-law Mary & Elly.  He was a proud older brother to Barb, Mark, & Dave, a proud godfather to Brianna & Nicole and a proud uncle to many nieces and nephews!

Rick attended Thornridge High School and loved running track. Rick enlisted to the Vietnam War, in the Army, at the ripe age of 17. After being in the Army, he worked different factory, forklift, and janitor jobs. In his younger days he loved hanging out with friends, partying, and shooting pool. Rick was a big family man, funny, and the life of the party! He loved hanging out with his family & friends, listening to music, and watching sports. On the weekends you could catch him hanging out with Ricky. Biologically Rick was Ricky's Uncle, but in every other way, he was his dad. You could catch them listening to music, ordering Uber Eats, playing games, and watching movies. Rick created so laughs and memories with everyone he loved and met.

He will be greatly missed by his family and friends who will remember him as a hilarious humble man of great character.

A Military Memorial Visitation will be held Wednesday July 2nd from 10am-2pm with a Memorial Service at 2pm at the Tews-Ryan Funeral Home. 18230 Dixie Highway in Homewood.
