Raymond Edward Clutts, beloved son of Lois (O'Brien) and Raymond Clutts was born on July 22, 1957. Ray was a longtime resident of Glenwood, Illinois and more recently Barrington. He was educated at the University of Illinois and received his Juris Doctor at DePaul University in Chicago.
Raymond is survived by his children Delaney Clutts and Raymond Joseph Clutts, and his sister Kathleen (Richard) Evans. Ray will be missed by his niece Kelley Evans and nephew Richard (Tricia) Evans, nephews Garrett Rickert and Connor Rickert, and great nieces and nephew. Ray had many cousins and long-term friends that will also miss him greatly.
If you knew anything about Ray, you knew his addiction to the written word. He was an absolutely avid reader of books, especially sci-fi and politics (particularly related to the Roman Empire), but perhaps most significantly the holy grail of high fantasy, J. R. R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings series which remained a bedside staple throughout his life. When he wasn't reading though, you'd likely find him puffing on a nice cigar, curated soundtrack blasting for maximum enjoyment, or perhaps watching one of his favorite movies (of which there were many, with ranked lists to coincide), or maybe on the green, club in hand. There are enough fond memories that this could easily turn into a novel of its own. Even in doing so, his life, the contents of his heart and mind, his singular nature, are inarticulable. He will be missed deeply, but his loved ones rest assured that whatever awaits, his childhood beagle, Sloopy, is taking great pleasure in being chased around the schoolyard once more.
Ray passed away peacefully at home on March 6, 2024. A summer memorial announcement will be forthcoming. For additional information contact tews-ryanfh.com or call 708-798-5300.
