Raymond P. Callahan

Raymond Callahan died peacefully at Sunrise Senior Living Residence of Flossmoor on August 21, 2022. Ray was born in Chicago on June 14, 1932, to Eugene and Bridget Callahan (nee Downes) and was a longtime resident of Homewood. Beloved husband of 52 years of the late Margaret Callahan (nee McHugh). Loving father of Maureen (Carl) Adduci, late Eileen Callahan, Patricia Callahan and Christine (David) Derengowski. Cherished grandfather of Callahan Adduci and Bridget Derengowski. Beloved Brother of Eugene (late Catherine "Dolly"), late Thomas (late Dolores), late John (late Veronica), Joan (Daniel) Prunicki. Fond uncle and friend to many. Dear friend and companion of Lois Rinkenberger.

Ray was a 1950 graduate of CVS High School; received an AA degree from Chicago Teachers College in 1961 and was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean War. He enjoyed a 44 year career as a locomotive engineer on the Pennsylvania, Penn Central and CONNRAIL Railroads. His daughters have fond memories of him taking them to work long before it was popular to take your daughter to work. When thinking of him, it will be his jovial demeanor and the twinkle in his eye that will come to mind. We are happy he's now enjoying some sweet white wine with his wife, Marge, family and friends. Slainte!
