Rarick David Day

Rarick David Day, of Crete, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2026, after a courageous 17-month battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 69 years old.

Born on January 11, 1957, to George and Joyce Day, Rarick was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, cherished brother, and beloved uncle whose strength, dedication as a union man with Pipefitters Local 597, humor, and love for his family left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.

On June 7, 1980, he married the love of his life, Elizabeth Day, beginning a marriage filled with devotion, partnership, and family. Together they raised two daughters, Selene (Patrick) Willard and Lisa (Tony) Melone, who were the pride and joy of his life. He was also a proud grandfather to Minnie Willard, 13, Anthony Melone Jr., 9, and Fiona Melone, 6. Rarick is survived by his loving sister, Arla (Don) Blocker, and was preceded in death by his sister, Georjean (Dan) Gautsch. He also leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and very dear friends.

Rarick fought his illness with remarkable courage and determination, showing the same resilience and strength that defined his life. Even through difficult days, his love for his family never wavered.

He will be remembered for his kindness, his unwavering love for those closest to him, and the countless memories shared with family and friends throughout the years. His presence brought laughter, comfort, and strength to so many.

Though pancreatic cancer took his life, it never took his spirit. He fought bravely until the very end and will be deeply missed and forever loved.
