Randy Julian Bruntjens, 48, of Homewood, passed away on March 24th, 2025 following a lifelong struggle with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. He moved to Illinois with his mother and brother Chad in 1979. The boys enjoyed spending summers in Michigan with their father and his wife Gayle, and fishing with their brother Jeffrey. Linda and Steve Schmitz married in 1983 and joined their families.

Randy attended schools in Chicago and graduated from Evergreen Park Community High School and Moraine Valley Community College, where he earned an Associate's of Art degree. He liked expressing himself through painting and drawing, and Lauren and Randy enjoyed visiting any art event, museum and gallery they could. Playing video games, watching horror movies, and listening to industrial rock were Randy's other favorite pastimes. He always adored the company of his pet cats. Ethan and Randy shared a love of video games and drawing and they always had fun doing puzzles and building Lego sets.

Randy will be affectionately remembered by family and friends with his quirky humor, fearless honesty and fortitude in facing his daily battle.
