In Loving Memory of Paul Hryn
With profound sadness and yet with the joyful promise of eternal life, we announce the passing of our beloved Paul Hryn, who went to be with the Lord on August 19th, 2025 at the age of 71. He passed peacefully at home in Olympia Fields, Illinois.
Born to Michael and Elizabeth (Reid) Hryn on October 18th, 1953 in Chicago, Illinois. A devout believer in Christ, Paul was guided by the light of faith in every step of his life from dedicating his time and resources to the Veterans Ministry at his church to instilling God's love in his children and grandchildren.
He attended high school at Thornton Township High School and grew up in Riverdale.
After Paul lost his mother at only 2 years old, his father remarried his step mother, Epiphany Hryn. She raised him and was an active mother to him and grandmother to his children.
Early career had him working construction for his brothers, Michael and John Hryn Construction. He later went on to start his own company, Hryn-Becker Construction Company and worked in the suburbs of Chicago for many years with his partner, Terry "Ace" Becker.
Paul loved watching football, basketball and Hogan's Heroes. He loved cheering on the Chicago Bears and talking about the games with his stepsons. Paul always had a sweet tooth and you could always find him with a Pepsi nearby.
Paul was preceded in death by his son Paul Ryan Hryn, his daughter Jamie Lynn Hryn, older brothers Michael P. (Virginia) Hryn and John M. (Carol) Hryn, and older sister Mary Patricia Hryn. He is survived by his wife Yvonne Hryn, daughter Abbey (Matt) Hryn-Wood, stepsons Theodore and Kellen (Amanda) Lee, and grandchildren Alice C. Wood, Charlotte A. Wood, Oliver M. Wood and James Lee. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
The family takes comfort in knowing that Paul is now in the presence of our Heavenly Father, experiencing the peace and joy that only He can provide. We will forever hold him in our hearts, knowing that the love and faith he nurtured will continue to inspire and guide us.
Visitation will take place on Friday August 22nd, 2025 from 3:00-7:00 PM at Tews Ryan Funeral Home in Homewood, Illinois.
A funeral service to celebrate Paul's life will be held at Calvary Assembly of God Church in Flossmoor on Saturday August 23rd, 2025 at 1:00 PM.
