Paul W. Henson

Paul W. Henson Sr. passed away peacefully at home in Matteson, IL on Friday, August 11, 2023, at age 83. He was a loving husband to Joan (Hill) for 59 years.  He was the beloved father of Paul "PJ" Henson (Beth), Cindy (Phill) Hayes and Lynda (Mike) Spirakis. He was a  proud grandfather to Ali (Nico) Kelly, Samantha Farkos, Riley Farkos(Mara), Haley Spirakis, Nicholas Spirakis, Hannah Spirakis, Holly Spirakis and Jack Henson.  And a great grandfather to Sloane & Canon Kelly.  He is remembered by many of the congregation at St. Paul's church and friends.

Paul came to Chicago from Davenport, IA where he graduated from DePaul University with a degree in Journalism.  He spent most of his career in the Advertising & Printing industry.  Early in his career he was credited with tagging the phrase "The Un-Cola" to the popular soft drink, 7-Up while working at the J. Walter Thompson Agency in Chicago.  He loved to play with their dog Duke, go fishing, antiquing and going to Bears games at Soldier Field.  His favorite sports teams were da Bears and da Cubs.  He also loved to play darts & get together with members of his church.

Paul was a devout Christian and enjoyed attending weekly Service and singing in the choir. He was known and beloved for his gift of gab, his love for everything Elvis and the occasional dirty joke.  Paul & Joan often threw many themed parties for friends & clients at their home in Orland Park back in the 70's & 80's.  Plenty of fun memories from those events.  He was often the life of the party and will be sorely missed.
