The following poem was written By Pat Tatgenhorst's granddaughter, Elisse Lorenc:

La Beauté de la Jonquille

"The Beauty of the Daffodil"

Winter is the cruelest month

smothering with a blanket of snow,

but Grandma, you are a daffodil

proud and enduring

you pierce through clinging frost

and with you hope blossoms

like a daffodil, you fill every room with joy

vibrant and fragrant, like your cookies

our family won't be as vibrant without you

Grandma, you will be missed

but you'll cling to our hearts

like the chipper blooms of spring
