Pato Cog was born and raised in Homewood, IL and most recently resided in Hinsdale, IL. She was the daughter of Michael and Cecelia, sister of the Onyschuk boys (Ken, Greg and Dave) as well as aunt to nephews Wayne (wife Roberta) and Phil and niece Janet (husband Aaron).
Pato graduated from art and nursing schools and dedicated herself as a nurse for many years at The Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago, Seasons Hospice as well as other hospices. As a hospice nurse, she was committed to providing exemplary loving care to numerous dying patients and their families. As a strong advocate for music therapy, she championed the first music therapy program at Seasons Hospice.
Pato was known for her fashion, love of music (especially jazz and blues), and enjoyed old movies and world cuisine. She was a very spiritual soul, living each day by recognizing and honoring the loving spirit within all she encountered.
She valued and loved her extended family, especially her nieces and nephews. She always eagerly anticipated family get-togethers and parties. She was known for her generosity and giving fun and unusual gifts.
Pato cherished her "adopted" family including all those friends in Chicagoland and beyond. She loved to dance the night away, dressed "to the 9's" at the trendiest clubs and parties.
She was (and is) deeply loved and will be profoundly missed and will always be our inspiration. A celebration of Pato's life will be held on Saturday, March 23rd from 4:00 – 7:00 pm at Grand Dukes Restaurant 980 W 75th St. Downers Grove, IL.
