Oliver Stephen Paredes, who was loved deeply by his family, friends, and the community, passed away suddenly on Sunday July 24th, 2022. He was 16 years old.
Oliver was known for his gentle spirit, kindness, peaceful & fun-loving nature, and unfiltered appreciation for everyone. He made friends with people everywhere he went and loved to make others feel included. He was incredibly encouraging and supportive to his brother and best friend Rory, and took his role as big brother to heart, telling him he loved him every night before they went to bed. And, he was deeply loving to his parents Janet and Stephen, and grandparents Kathleen and Jose Paredes, and David and the late Carol Starcevich.
Oliver loved to be around others and sparked joy in every space he entered. He was close with his immediate and large extended family who loved to spend time with him boating, swimming, fishing, crabbing, playing tennis and board games, eating tortellini & red sauce from D&D, or just watching TV. Oliver didn't have to be perfect at something to enjoy it, and he was never discouraged when trying something new.
A gentle soul who was pure of heart, Oliver was compassionate, intelligent, curious, patient, funny, passionate, and optimistic. He had a deep connection and love for all animals, especially his love for his girl Pip, who was never far from his side. He loved the colors orange and purple, skateboarding, water-polo, and listening to & making music. One of his favorite things was going to the shore with his family in New Jersey and riding the waves with his brother Rory. He made everyone laugh with his jokes and impressions and was always planning pranks and playing games.
When you met Oliver, you knew you had a friend for life. Once he loved you, he never stopped, and he was never embarrassed to give you a hug and tell you so. It is with our greatest sorrow that he will now be a guardian angel for life.
In honor of Oliver and in celebration of his life, there will be a private funeral service. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to the Izaak Walton Preserve www.HomewoodIzaakWalton.com where Oliver spent many happy days fishing with his dad, his brother Rory, and his friends. The Paredes family appreciates your love, support, and sharing of grief.
