Nancy J. Matas

Nancy Matas, age 97, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2024 in Flossmoor, Illinois. Born on July 31, 1926 in Chicago, she was the only child of Lester and Lillian Holmes. She attended Northwestern University where she majored in psychology and was a member of Gamma Phi Beta sorority. In 1946, she married Walter Matas who preceded her in death in 1992. She is survived by her son Lee (Linda) Matas, and three daughters Leslie Saer, Lynne (John) Renaud, Laurie (Cliff) Lutton. She was preceded in death by her son, Larry. She has ten grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren.

Nancy loved to go camping and has travelled to 48 states in her motor home. She has also taken a number of trips abroad visiting 24 countries. She was passionate about gardening, she was an antique collector, and she enjoyed doing crafts. Also, she was an animal lover who especially enjoyed her Dachshunds and champion Morgan horses.
