Michael J O'Neil

Michael J. O'Neil, 67, formerly of Lockport, IL, died unexpectedly on November 14, 2025 at his residence in Chicago.

Michael was born in Chicago, IL on January 20, 1958. He graduated from Homewood-Flossmoor High School and studied business at Western Michigan University. First in Homewood, IL and later in Lockport, he was a tile layer and business owner. Michael had deep ties to Gunn Lake in Freesoil, MI, where he spent time throughout his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John "Jack" O'Neil and Carole "Boots" O'Neil, and his sister Rita O'Neil.Michael is survived by his children, Eryn O'Neil (Joseph Meyer) and Jonathan O'Neil (Nicole Polak); two grandchildren; his siblings Patrick O'Neil (Patricia), Maureen Dietz, and Eileen Stevens (Richard); and nieces and nephew Michelle Diaferio (Mark), Kathleen Stevens, and John Stevens.

A memorial gathering will be held Saturday, December 6, 2025, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Tews-Ryan Funeral Home, 18230 Dixie Highway, Homewood, IL.
