Michael J. Killackey passed away peacefully at home on December 17, 2023, at the age of 72, following a long illness. Michael was born on December 28, 1950, in the city of Chicago where he spent his childhood. He lived in Homewood, IL, for many years as well as Chicago after which he retired in Austin, TX, and then later settled in Las Vegas, NV.

He and his wife Patty (nee Kelly) raised their four children Michael, Jr. (Elizabeth Gasper), Ryan, Carolyn (Albert Lee), and David, in Homewood. Michael was a proud grandfather to Aidan and Colette Lee, brother to Kitty Mitchell (John), John (Maureen), James, Margaret, Karen (Steve), and Kristen Killackey. Michael was preceded in death by his beloved youngest son David, his parents John and Carolyn Killackey, younger sister Margaret and brother James. He was loved by his extended Killackey and Kelly families, and he was a good friend to many.

He attended St. Peter Canisius grade school, Holy Cross High School, and Washburn Trade School. He also served bravely in the United States Army in the Vietnam war. He was a dedicated and hardworking Local 134 Electrician and worked for the Metropolitan Pier and Expo Authority for over 30 years. Michael was an excellent and avid golfer and was known for his sense of humor and generosity.

Michael's services will be on January 5, 2024, at St. John Neumann Catholic Church (formerly St. Joseph's), 17951 Dixie Highway, Homewood, Il 60430 starting with visitation at 10 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at 11 a.m. A full military burial will take place following the church service, at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, 20953 W. Hoff Road, Elwood, IL, 60421.
