Mary Jane Seymour was born Mary Jane Campbell on December 3, 1939, on a sugar farm in Hazlehurst, Mississippi. Mary was the 3rd of 5 children born to the late KC Camell (Campbell) and the late Estella Smith. Mary made her transition on September 12, 2022, and she is no longer in pain, but at everlasting peace.
In Chicago, Mary attended Hendricks Elementary School where she met her future husband, the late Charles Albert Seymour Sr., whom she affectionately called "Chaus". They both went on to attend DuSable High School and a few years later in August of 1961 in Chicago, Illinois, Mary and Charles were united in holy matrimony. To their union, three children were born: Sonia, Brenda and Charles Jr. Mary's love for her children was a mighty love and each of her children were very special to her.
Mary was a hands-on parent, grandparent and great-grandparent. Mary along with her late husband Charles, always made sure their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren never went without and were showered with love. Mary had a love of many things, one being the beautification of her home, it was her pride and joy. Mary's favorite past times and hobbies included going to garage sales, thrift stores, flea markets, playing and discussing the lottery, collecting dolls, planting flowers, sitting by the lake, and dancing. Mary had a strong love of R&B oldies music. Even when her health and memory began to fail, she still would sing along remembering the words to her favorite songs. The music would relax and soothe her, allowing her to recount happy moments and memories in her life that never faded. Throughout her life, and even during recent health complications, Mary still inquired about the wellbeing of others near and far. That's just how exceptional she was, always thinking of others more than herself. Who was Mary Jane? Mary Jane was one of the kindest, sweetest, most loving, generous, genuine souls to have walked this place called Earth. Mary was one of a kind and will be greatly and deeply missed by all who loved and knew her.
