Mary Agnes Long

Mary Agnes Long, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2024. She was born August 18, 1935, in Springfield, MO.  She grew up in Walnut Grove, Mo. and attended college at Southwest Missouri University obtaining both a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in education. She taught in the St. Louis Missouri educational system for many years before moving to the Chicago suburbs where she was a High School guidance counselor at Thornton Fractional Township.  Mary was a long-time active member of St. John the Evangelist Episcopal Church in Flossmoor, IL, where she served many years on the Episcopal Church Woman (ECW) Board and the Altar Guild including being past president of the ECW.  Mary is preceded in death by her parents Ernest and Ophia, her brother James Jones, Niece Mary Anne, and Mary's husband William Long. She is survived by her niece Linda Kamakian and husband John and her stepdaughter Janet Tyson and husband William.  Memorial Mass will be held at the Church of St. John the Evangelist 2640 Park Drive, Flossmoor on July 28 at 10:30am. Donations in her name to the Church of St. John the Evangelist at PO Box 25, Flossmoor, IL  60422.
