Marlene Naomi Potterton, nee Quimby, passed away peacefully at her home in Homewood on December 30, 2024. She is reunited with her husband of 57 years, William John ("Bill") Potterton.

Marlene was born in Coal City, IL on May 16, 1935 to Thomas and Wanda Quimby. She spent her childhood in Chicago Heights, attending St. Agnes School and graduating from Bloom High School in 1953. With Bill, she raised four children in Flossmoor: Tracee (Steve) Latty, Kyle (Marty) Arrivo, Wendy (Marc) Biolchin, and William John (Kim) Potterton III. She enjoyed many happy retirement years surrounded by close friends and family in Green Valley, AZ and Mineral Point, WI, and taking family trips in the US and abroad.

Marlene is survived by her four children; her sister Terrie (Gene) Lassiter; her ten grandchildren Nicholas (Susie), Anthony (Alicia), Kailey (David), Garrett, Taylor (Frank), Ally, Annie, Victoria, Grace, and William John IV ("Jack"); and her five great-grandchildren Frankie and Violet, Sofia and Stella, and Konrad. She will be remembered for her wit, her style, and above all as a loving and supportive wife, mother, grandmother, and gigi.

A private celebration of life will be held by Marlene's family. Donations in her memory can be made to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation/Breakthrough T1D ( https://www.breakthrought1d.org/ ) and South Suburban Humane Society ( https://southsuburbanhumane.org/) .
