Mark Davern, 62, passed away suddenly at his home in Oak Forest on August 18, 2024. He was born September 1, 1961 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of the late Patrick and Patricia Davern and preceded in death by his brothers Timothy and Ed Davern, and niece Lori Beatty. Mark attended Tinley Park High School in Tinley Park, Illinois and was a devoted husband of 37 years to his beloved wife Janice Davern, the love of his life.
Mark was a carpenter by trade, a loyal union supporter, leaving behind many union brothers, and had a true love for his country. He had a passion to take on many projects, including refurbishing older items and restoring them back to life so his wife, family and friends could enjoy them once again. This gave him great pleasure to see the happy faces when the project was completed. Mark really enjoyed spending time with family and friends in his backyard entertaining, cooking out on the grill and telling stories. He was always joking around and we will all miss his humor. He will be deeply missed, always loved and forever remembered.
He is survived by three dearly loved step children; Thomas (Tracy) Bjorklund, Brenden Bjorklund, and Eric (Alexandra) Bjorklund, eight adored grandchildren Mikayla Bjorklund, Thomas Bjorklund III, Alissa Bjorklund, Erica Bjorklund, Brianna Bjorklund, Joshua Bjorklund, Audrianna Bjorklund, and Alexa Bjorklund, four dear sisters and two brothers, Lori (Bob) Silva, Mary (Dave) Davern, Matthew (Kim) Davern, Theresa Davern, Judy Davern, and Thomas (Michelle) Davern, two loving aunts, Judith (Ben) Daven, Gloria (Tom) Davern, and many beloved nephews, nieces and cousins who he shared a loving relationship together. Mark had a great fondness for family, including his grandchildren, and all his many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was also a good friend to many and was always quick to offer assistance for anything needed and to provide a helping hand.
A "celebration of his life" is planned for Sunday, September 8, 2024 from 2pm to 8pm at the Markham VFW, 3220 W. 159th St., Markham, IL.
