She was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church in Country Club Hills. Marj was a Member of the choir, Ladies Aid, Altar Guild and instrumental in many fund raisers. Marj was always a very conscientious and busy person. She loved to host her monthly card club group to family celebrations. Christmas was her favorite. The inside, outside, top to bottom of their home would be decorated to perfection for the Christmas season. Her Christmas Village display was a delight for all, especially the grandchildren. Even into her 70’s, you could find Marj up on the roof hanging Christmas lights! For many years, Norm and Marj enjoyed boating and entertaining at their second home on Lake Wawasee in Kosciusko County, Indiana. Their lake home was a favorite water sport destination for many friends and family members. Marj loved to play the organ, sing, play card games and do jigsaw puzzles even until shortly before her passing. For the past five years, Marj has been in Senior living homes. First at Evergreen Senior Living in Orland Park where she made wonderful friends with other residents and staff. She enjoyed participating in many activities there, especially bingo. Marj and her friends would gather and enjoy watching the birds, sharing meals, watching the comings and goings of fellow residents and staff and reminiscing about the “old days.” Recently she moved to Cedarhurst Memory Care in Frankfort. Although she was not there long, she enjoyed picking and eating fresh cherry tomatoes from their container garden, watching game shows and of course playing bingo. Although Marj had severe short term memory loss, she was always smiling, pleasant and enjoying the moment. She was happy, comfortable, well cared for and loved.
