Lynne L. Gehrke

Lynne Louise Gehrke nee Smith, age 78. Late of Georgia, formerly of Hazel Crest and Roseland. Lynne was the beloved wife of Michael Gehrke who preceded her in death and she is now with him in God's Kingdom. Devoted daughter of the late Clayton F. and Frances C. Smith. Loving sister of the late Adrianne Smith. Loving sister to Paul W. Smith. After her husband Michaels passing, Lynne continued a close and loving relationship with all the members of his family. She had many friends in both the Chicago area and Georgia and will be missed by all. Lynne was a graduate of Fenger High School, attended Chicago City College and was a graduate of Roosevelt University Para Legal Program earning her certificate with top honors. She worked in the legal departments of several law firms and communication businesses.  After her retirement at age 62, she unselfishly made periodic journeys from Georgia to Hazel Crest to help her brother Paul care for her invalid father and sister. Lynne loved animals, having several dogs and cats throughout her life. She also liked arts and crafts, travel, reading and music. She enjoyed movies, especially old classic ones. Lynne will be missed by her family and friends who she all loved very much. Resting at the Tews-Ryan Funeral Home, 18230 Dixie Highway, Homewood, Tuesday, November 1, 2022 from 2:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m.  Funeral service Wednesday, 11:30 a.m. Interment Mt. Vernon Cemetery.
