Louis S. Gasperec, 79, of Hazel Crest, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on June 18, 2025. Born on VJ Day, August 14, 1945 in Chicago, IL raised in the West Pullman neighborhood of Chicago, and longtime resident of Flossmoor. Louis is survived by his sons Louis E. (Julie) Gasperec, Stephan (Lisa) Gasperec, and Michael Gasperec as well as his dear sister Susan (Harry) Strittmatter. He was immensely proud of his grandsons Jackson Gasperec and Louie Gasperec. He was the loving son of Louis E. and Stella Gasperec. He is also survived by his long time companion Janis Leppin and her son Michael Leppin. He was a proud graduate of Mendel Catholic High School as well as the University of Notre Dame. A two time President of the South Suburban Bar Association with offices in Homewood, he had a successful career as an attorney and was well respected throughout the legal community and the south suburbs in general. For many years he taught business law at both South Suburban College and Prairie State College where he met many good friends and future clients. However, his first career was as a child model where he appeared in advertisements for 7-Up and wore one of the first space suits. He was a devoted White Sox fan and at one time could and did boast that he was at the last three World Series games played in the City of Chicago. He enjoyed Jackson's band performances and Louie's baseball games. He was a master of the yo-yo and also loved animals from dogs to donkeys. He was quick with a good story but always took the time to listen and give great advice. Visitation will be held on Saturday June 28 at Tews-Ryan Funeral Home 18230 Dixie Highway in Homewood from 9am until the time of prayers at 10:30am, followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Veronica (formerly Infant Jesus of Prague) at 11:00am. Entombment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. For additional information contact tews-ryanfh.com or call 708-798-5300.
