LeRoy E. Duncan passed away April 1, 2022 in Flossmoor, Il., after a full and eventful life. Previously of Williamsville, Il. and Beacon Hill, Fla., he was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Leona Duncan and his sister Evelyn Merrifield, from Marianna, Florida. LeRoy was widowed from Marilyn (nee Welker) after 59 years together. Father of Michael Duncan, Terri Annis (Jeff) of Gaithersburg, Md., Denise Morris (George) of Flossmoor, Il., Deborah Duncan of Littleton, Co., David Duncan of Commerce City, Co., and Jennifer Duncan (Dave Pyle) of Chicago, Il. Paw Paw to grandchildren Rebecca and Miriam Annis, and Matthew, Veronica, and Madeline Morris. He will be missed by many nieces and nephews and his loyal buddy, Gus.

A proud Marching Illini band member and graduate of the School of Education with a degree in Music and a Juris Doctorate from the School of Law, LeRoy worked in labor law most of his professional life, including many years as a Commissioner for the State of Illinois Industrial Commission. He served as the mayor of Williamsville, sang in the Williamsville United Methodist Church choir, and was an avid vegetable gardener. LeRoy loved playing the trumpet as a member of Ansar Shrine and with the Springfield Municipal Band, playing for Presidents and traveling to Europe, trumpet in tow. He instilled a love of travel in his children through annual summer camping vacations across the country. He retired early and enjoyed a busy retirement in Beacon Hill, Florida, by volunteering for the Mexico Beach Visitor Center, Humane Society, AARP, St. Joseph Bay Preserve and other areas of interest. He had a remarkable memory and unique style of storytelling.

Donations in his memory can be given to Friends of St. Joseph Bay Preserve, Humane Society, or any charity of your choice. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Internment will take place at Walnut Hill Cemetery in Williamsville, Il. Hug a friend or family member today.
