Leonard J. Leclaire

Leonard J. LeClaire of Homewood, Illinois passed away Monday December 27 ^th .  He was the son of his late parents Leonard N. LeClaire and Olive (Egloff) LeClaire.  He was born in Hammond, Indiana on July 22, 1948, and grew up in Riverdale, Illinois.  He attended the Calumet College of Saint Joseph in Whiting, Indiana, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science.

His first career was as a computer programmer, but he eventually followed his love of nature and went to work for the Morton Arboretum.  Upon retirement, he volunteered at the Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie, helping to restore the former Joliet Arsenal to tallgrass prairie.

He is survived by his sister, Marie (Satish) Channa; nephews Neal (Unica) and Anand (Kianna) Channa; grandniece and grandnephew; and cousins John (Betty) McClellan, Rev. Keith McClellan, and Kathy (John) Hollahan.

The visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 4 ^th , 2022, at Tews-Ryan Funeral Home, 18230 Dixie Highway, Homewood, from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service at 7:00 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Midewin Alliance, P.O. Box 2026, Joliet, Illinois 60434.
