Lauretta Wright

Lauretta Rose Wright nee LaPonte, age 99, of Homewood, peacefully passed Sunday, February 12, 2023 at Smith Crossing in Orland Park where she had been staying since August 2022. Wife of the late Richard O. Wright, Sr., mother of Michael F. (Kathleen) Wright, Kathleen A. (Andrew) Sabo, Richard O. Wright, Jr., James R. Wright, Nancy Jo (Steven) Dubetz and Rae Ann (Steven) Lewis, grandmother of Sarah (David Feathergill) Sabo, Drew (Ashley) Sabo, Alex (Mackenzie) Sabo, Cobi Sabo, Evan Dubetz, Patrick Dubetz, Sam Lewis and Ava Lewis, great-grandmother of Carson and Tate Sabo. Born at home on Erie St. in Chicago, April 9, 1923, she attended Alfred Nobel Elementary and Austin High School. After graduation, she was employed with Illinois Bell Telephone Co. for 11 years before marriage. As a full time, mother, she worked part-time for Marshall Fields during Christmas season and later did volunteer work at the reception desk for over 20 years at Olympia Fields Osteopathic Hospital. Thru out her long life she enjoyed playing canasta and bridge, bowling, golfing, travel, watching the Cubs and hosting family gatherings. In Lieu of flowers, memorials to Catholic Charities would be appreciated.

Visitation will be held at Tews-Ryan Funeral Home, 18230 Dixie Highway in Homewood, Illinois on Saturday, February 18, 2023, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. Funeral mass 11:45 am at St. John Neumann Church (formerly St. Joseph Church), 17951 Dixie Highway, Homewood, Illinois. Interment to follow at Assumption Cemetery, Glenwood, Illinois.
