Kerry J. Kauffman of Flossmoor, IL a distinguished U.S. Army Veteran and devoted family man, passed away on April 2, 2024, at the age of 59. He was the dear son of the late Dean and Linda (McConnell) Hair and the late Kenneth Kauffman, and the beloved grandson of the late John and Katie (Yoder) Kauffman.
Kerry was the loving husband to Lisa (Heffelfinger) Kauffman for 30 years and the cherished father of Nate Kauffman. He is survived by his brother, Kean Kauffman (Tina) and was a dear son-in-law of Jack and Virginia Heffelfinger and brother-in-law of Amy DallaCorte (Joe). He was also a beloved uncle to Andi Carton (Tony), Jory Morse, Colin Kauffman (June), Greyson Kauffman, Jack DallaCorte and Norah DallaCorte, and great uncle to Talan, Addison, and Emersyn Carton. Kerry was a nephew, cousin and good friend to many, and the best dog dad to Clancy.
Kerry served eight years in the United States Army's 10th Special Forces Group as an Intelligence Liaison, including deployments during Operation Desert Storm and Operation Desert Shield. Following his military service, Kerry dedicated 30 years to serving his country as a Supervisory Federal Officer with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, retiring in 2022.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Kerry was an enthusiastic cook, world traveler who visited over fifty countries, and a history buff. He cherished his time attending Nate's football games, watching anime with Nate, and hosting barbeques at the pool with family, friends, and neighbors.
Above all, Kerry's love for his family and friends was unwavering, and his memory will continue to be a guiding light for them.
