Kenneth Leonard Erzinger, age 86, of Matteson, IL. U.S. Naval Veteran. Blessed to have 62 loving years with his wife, Mary Anne Erzinger nee Bisluk. Loving father of Luann (Gary) White of Pace, FL, Daniel (Carol) Erzinger of Matteson, IL, Jerrold (Ruth) Erzinger of Tinley Park, IL, and Suzanne (Peter) Hallam of Flossmoor, IL. Cherished grandfather of Michael Greenwood, Alexander Greenwood, Kathryn (Michael) Cook, Megan Erzinger, Jack (Carli) Hallam, and Philip "Robb" Hallam. Great-grandfather of Brennan, Ryan, Amelia, and Bailey. Fond uncle, cousin, and friend to many. Preceded in death by his parents, Philip and Marie (nee Vade Boncoeur) Erzinger and his brother Ronald (Lois) Erzinger. Member St. Lawrence O'Toole Church and Knights of Columbus Nina Council.

Ken was born and raised in Kankakee, IL. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1953 – 1957 (active duty) and 1957 – 1961 (reserves). He attended Washburn Trade School and apprenticed and later joined McNulty Bros. Construction Company as a Lather (Chicago Regional Council of Carpenters), where he worked from 1958 until his retirement in 1997. He worked on such projects as the John Hancock Building, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra Building, and Lincoln Mall. Ken could fix anything with tie-wire and duct tape.

Ken took great pleasure in spending time with his childhood friends ("the gang" from Kankakee) with whom he grew up, entered the service, and stayed close throughout his adult life. Ken enjoyed square dancing and country western dancing. He and his wife were avid world travelers by Air, Land, Sea and River. He loved his grandchildren, and he delighted in attending their various Baseball, Football, Soccer, Hockey, Lacrosse, and Volleyball games, as well as their Band and Choir concerts. Ken LOVED chocolate.

Resting at the Tews-Ryan Funeral Home 18230 Dixie Highway in Homewood on Tuesday, August 31, from 3 pm until a prayer service at 7:30. A future Memorial Mass will be held on October 1, at 10 am at St. Lawrence O'Toole Catholic Church. Inurnment at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery at 12:30pm.
