Karen A. Smith

Karen A. Smith, age 87, of Glenwood IL, formerly of Homewood IL, passed away on February 22, 2025. Beloved wife of the late James A. Smith, to whom she was married 50 years. Loving mother of the late Lisa R. Smith (who passed away three weeks before her mother's death) and Jay (Sharlla) Smith of Wildwood, MO. Born in Anderson, IN, Karen earned a degree from Ball State University, where she was a member of the Sigma Kappa Sorority. After moving to Homewood, Karen worked at Richard D. Irwin, Inc. During retirement, Karen's passions were traveling, attending various musical events, and pursuing service to others through volunteerism at the Homewood Historical Society, Homewood Women's Club, and Izaak Walton Preserve in Homewood. A memorial service for both Karen and Lisa is being planned for the near future.
