Julie A Hanes

Julie Ann Hanes (nee Gallagher) age 65, of Chicago Heights (formally of Homewood - Flossmoor) passed away peacefully on August 11th, 2025 surrounded by those who loved her. Julie was born on September 15, 1959 in Evergreen Park, IL to James and Joan Gallagher (Cassell).

Family, friends and relationships were what Julie's life was all about. Julie had various roles in her life, all of which she committed to and held important.  Her love of dogs, along with the simple pleasures of life, brought much joy to her over the 65 years.  She is survived by her husband of 28 years Hall Hanes, along with sisters Jan (Bob) Ruzich, Nancy Wenger, and Beth (Tom) Austin and step-daughter Heather Hanes-Ruge. Julie was preceded in death by her cherished son, Mark James Barnes.

Julie was an amazing aunt to her six nieces and nephews Daniel and Amy Ruzich, Brian and Adam Wenger, James and Meg Austin. She made a difference in each of their lives. Julie made a difference in all our lives.

A celebration of life will be held at Flossmoor Community Church on Saturday October 18th. A visitation at the church from 9:30-10:15am followed by a memorial service at 10:30am.
