Joy Anita Maier, age 82, of Flossmoor, passed away peacefully at her home with her family by her side on April 10, 2021. Beloved wife for 63 years to the late William (Bill) Dietrich Maier who passed away on November 29th, 2020. They lived their entire life in the South Suburban area of Chicago. Together they have four children: Lory (husband John), Todd, Chris (wife Julie), and Peter (wife Cathy) have eight children and stepchildren among them - Katie, Emily, Michelle, Nichole, John, Darrah, Elle and Emma. Joy and Bill also have five great grandchildren who they adored - Hunter, Knox, Leo, Michael, and Matthew. Joy attended Bradley University and was a member of the Delta Zeta sorority. Joy enjoyed numerous hobbies including golf, tennis, bridge, mahjong, visiting casinos and playing video poker. Joy's main focus was on her family, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also had many cherished lifelong friendships. Joy and Bill were long-time members of the First Presbyterian Church of Chicago Heights. They joyfully served the church as Elders and loyal Trustees, in addition to Joy serving as a Deacon. Joy and Bill enjoyed travelling with their children and friends going to Walt Disney World, Lake Lawn Lodge (Lake Delevan, WI) and Lake Tahoe, among many other destinations. Family will be holding a private service, masks and social distancing required, on Wednesday April 14, at the Tews-Ryan Funeral Home, 18230 Dixie Highway, Homewood IL 60430.
