Jon Rae Allen

Jon Rae Allen, 71,  a life long resident of Glenwood, IL, died peacefully in his sleep on January 3, 2026 with his sister by his side. Jon was born on November 21, 1954 at St James Hospital in Chicago Heights,IL. He is survived by his sister Patricia (Alan) Poole of Protem, MO. Jon was preceded in death by his mother Dorothy, his brother Ed (AKA "Snook") and several aunts and uncles. Jon was well known in Glenwood as the guy you went to when you needed something designed, built, or repaired. He was a gifted machinist. He had a soft spot in his heart for children & the elderly. He attended Brookwood School & graduated from Bloom High School in 1972. He went on to work as a machinist at Blaw-Knox after graduation.  After he retired from his career as a machinist, he went to work on remodeling the 135-year-old 2 story home he had lived in since he came home as a newborn. Jon worked as a tree trimmer to acquire firewood to feed his infamous wood burner.  Jon was also an avid NASCAR fan. He enjoyed hunting & fishing with his friends. He was a true woodsman, hiking the woods, hunting edible mushrooms & feeding the wild turkeys & deer.  Jon enjoyed a wide circle of friends & was always willing to lend a hand. He was a very special person and will be missed by any and all who knew him. A Celebration of Jon's Life will be held Saturday, June 20th at 3:00 p.m. at Mike Nielsen's Ranch, 290 E.
