John V. Just

John Valentine Just was born May 8th, 1962, and transitioned to be with the LORD on September 17, 2025 , after a lengthy fight with cancer.

John was born the second of three children to Nancy and Casey Just in Chicago, Illinois. John attended Eisenhower elementary in South Holland, Coolidge Junior high in Phoenix, and Thornwood High School in South Holland, Illinois where John was active in several school extracurricular activities including playing football and baseball. At an early age John demonstrated an interest in mechanics, plumbing, electrical work, and carpentry. In his youth, John worked as a truck driver, repaired cars, and trucks, and worked as a landscaper and worked at Midwest Fastners in Harvey. As an adult John co-owned, with his husband, multiple multifamily housing units, and utilized his immense skills as a property manager and project manager for the rehab of multifamily and residential properties.

John, who was known for kind heart, was a skilled and avid fisherman and happily supplied the family with the coveted fresh fish he caught from his fishing trips. John volunteered at Izaak Walton Preserve where he was a Trail Master – maintaining miles of trails and as mechanic utilizing his various skills repairing the preserve's equipment .

John had a great sense of humor was often telling jokes and laughing with his friends. John had a huge heart, a generous spirit, loved children, and was fiercely loyal to his friends, family and especially his husband. John will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

John was preceded in death by his mother – Nancy, father – Casey, mother-in-law -Verne, father-in-law – John, and two brother in laws- Loren and Rodney. John is survived by and leaves to mourn his husband (Cory Williams), two sisters Vicki Nieman( Jim) and Carrie Norton (Dave), a sister- in law - Adrienne Atkins ( Clarence), brother-in-law - John Williams Jr., four nieces Courtney, Danah, Katie (Mike), Melissa ( Todd), and one nephew Cortez , two aunts, 2 grandnieces Olivia and Nora, 2 grandnephews Ben and Jax, a host of cousins, and friends.

Memorial Visitation and Service Saturday September 27 from 2 pm until the time of Service at 4pm at the Tews-Ryan Funeral Home 18230 Dixie Highway in Homewood. For additional information contact tews-ryanfh.com or call 708-798-5300.
