John Leonard Burke

John L Burke, age 95, passed away on October 30, 2024. He was born on July 3, 1929 in Boston, Massachusetts. He is survived by his loving wife Marietta, daughter Brigid, son Casey, daughter Oona, and the late Patrick (Packey) John Burke and grandchildren Kaelah, Jonas, Liam, and Wesley.

John was a beloved member of the church choir and volunteered his time and talent to numerous other community programs. He worked as a Hospital Administrator at Jackson Park Hospital in Chicago, IL, for over three decades, where he had a positive impact on healthcare in the community. In addition to his hospital work, he was a talented professor at Prairie State College for 25 years, where countless students benefited from his knowledge and guidance.

John was a Maryknoll priest before marrying his wife in 1971. He spent most of his years as a priest in Korea, helping those in need, and his kindness and compassion touched the lives of countless individuals.

John will be dearly missed by his family and friends and all whose lives he touched. The memories of John's warmth and kindness will continue to inspire us all.
