Joann Nesbitt, daughter of Joe C. and Georgia Mae Nesbitt, was the oldest of 17, born on April 22, 1948, in Hunting Tennessee. They moved to Gary; Indiana then relocated to Illinois in 1960 where she continued her education in nursing. She worked at Oak Forest hospital for 33 years before retiring. She accepted the Lord at a young age at Bethel Gospel Tabernacle in Harvey, Illinois under the leadership of Pastor Harold and Barbara Arrington. Now under the leadership of Pastor Melvin and Sherri Flowers. She continued her evangelism in the church and community for over 45 years at page one feeding the homeless, local seniors, serving on multiple boards and committees': one as a treasurer of the Harvey library. Also, serving as an administrator for the Alderman Daryl Crudup. She did these many things out of the love of serving God, her family, and her community. She wore many hats and shoes because she was always on the go.
She was called home on July 17, 2024, at 1:30 a.m. to be with the Lord. Preceded in death by her parents and 7 siblings. Joann leaves with loving memories, her only daughter Maria Nesbitt – Bobby Winbush Sr. 4 grandchildren Bobby Winbush Jr. of New Orleans, Kendraya Winbush of Country Club Hills, Senora- Broady Hamilton of Nashville Tennessee, and Jessica Nesbitt of Harvey Illinois. 3 great grandchildren justice- juicy, Glenn and Carter Broady Jr. bugg Hamilton, one due August 8th, Samani and her other siblings, Mae Helen – John Davis, Bertha Ruffin, Florence – Debra Nesbitt, Glenda Nesbitt, Devita – Viky Swarn, Chris Nesbitt, Audrey – Michael – Mike Cooley, Jackie Nesbitt. A host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews. Along with cousins and best friends Lorice Hillsman of McKenzie Tennessee, Phillip and Pat Barnhill of McKenzie Tennessee, Ikel – Jane Gilbert of Huntington Tennessee, James/Mike Gilbert, and family in Kentucky, Princeton, Texas, Minnesota, Florida, and Illinois. The Bethel Gospel Tabernacle family, Gary Indiana, Peoria, California.
