Jean-Claude Pierre-Jerome passed away peacefully in his home on Friday, August 18, 2023, at age 84. He was a loving husband to Marie-Andree (nee Petit) for 58 years. He was the beloved father of Mario Pierre-Jerome and Dr. Marly Bradley (Gregory). He was a proud grandfather to Benjamin and Gabrielle Bradley. He was a devoted brother to, and is survived by, Eric Pierre-Jerome, Ketty Rameau, and Irvel Novembre. He was preceded in death by: his father Brice Pierre-Jerome and mother Marguerite Pierre-Jerome (nee Guillaume Sam), his siblings (Musset, Gisele, Gontran, Lunine, and Gerard), and is fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews, neighbors and friends.
Jean-Claude was born in Grande Riviere du Nord, Haiti and spent most of his childhood in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. He attended the University of Sherbrooke in Quebec, Canada, and then emigrated to the United States where he embarked upon a long and fruitful career in the medical technology field, managing the lab operations for Jackson Park Hospital for over 25 years, until his retirement in the year 2002.
Jean-Claude was a person who loved life. He welcomed adventure and travel, and always enjoyed a good party and celebration. Anyone who knew him would agree that he loved music, he loved to dance, and he loved to eat! He had a very keen and acerbic wit, and his great sense of humor was especially appreciated by his friends, co-workers, and family members – he never met a stranger. In his retirement years, one of his greatest joys was doting on his grandchildren Ben and Gabi, attending all sporting events, recitals, concerts, competitions and award ceremonies. He was an ardent sports fan and enjoyed watching/attending all types of sporting events, especially those involving his beloved Chicago Bulls. His amiable presence will be sorely missed. He fought the good fight as hard as he could, for as long as he could – we are grateful that he is now in a peaceful place.
His Celebration of Life visitation will be from 10am to 11am on Tuesday, August 29th at the Tews-Ryan Funeral Home at 18230 Dixie Highway, Homewood, IL. Memorial services will follow at the funeral home from 11am to 11:45am, immediately followed by the interment at Washington Memory Gardens (701 Ridge Road, Homewood, IL).
