JC Camell, Jr., affectionately known as 'Man', was born on June 30, 1964, in Lakeland, Florida, to Mary E. Walker and JC Camell, Sr. JC's parents relocated to Chicago, Illinois where he was then raised. JC accepted Christ into his heart at an early age and was baptized in Chicago, Illinois.
JC was very athletic and loved the sports of boxing and football. He also loved to cook, but boxing was his passion. He loved everything about boxing and excelled greatly at the game. This was evident in the numerous awards and accolades he received throughout the years that he played the sport which included winning the Chicago Golden Gloves Champion title at 139 lbs in 1981 and 1982. In 1983 and 1984 he moved up to 147 lbs and won the Gloves again both years. JC was " Chicago boxing's best prospect for the 1984 Olympics " according to one news outlet.
JC was a fun, loving, caring and charismatic person. He loved visiting and talking with family and friends. Even when his health began to fail, he still visited others, being his loving and playful self, always keeping up the spirits of others. JC was always smiling and full of life, to know him was to love him.
JC received his wings and made his transition into the arms of God the Father, on Friday, November 18, 2022, at the age of 58. JC lived a life full of passion, excitement, adventure, and most of all full of love. He leaves to cherish his memory a host of family and friends.
