James A. Stilts

James Andrew Stilts, age 58, of Homewood, IL, died suddenly Oct. 22, 2023. Beloved husband of Lisa (nee Compton). Loving and devoted father of Andrea (Kenny Lofstrom) and Callista. Survived by his siblings Paula (Tom) Shapiro, Paul (Barb) Moore, Marlene Shirley and Joseph (Brittany) Sarek; his sister-in-law Patricia Stilts-Farkos and nephew (like a son) Steven Stilts; his father-in-law Ronald Compton; his brothers-in-law Larry Compton and Kevin (Chrissy) Compton; numerous nieces and nephews and friends who were also like family.  Preceded in death by his parents, Dennie Gene Stilts and Josephine Stilts; his siblings Dennie Stilts, Gene (Skip) Stilts, William Steven Stilts and Eve Marie Stilts and his mother-in-law, Linda Compton.  We surely hope they are enjoying catching up. Jim, a 30-year member of Bricklayers and Allied Craftsmen Union Local 74, was as meticulous in his craftsmanship on the job as in his own home. He was known as one of the best stonemasons in the Chicagoland area. Jim showed his love for wife, girls, family, friends, and his craft, by doing it well and letting it speak for itself, just as he did life. We all surely wish he had more of it. Memorial Visitation and Service will be held Saturday, Nov. 18, 2023, at Flossmoor Community Church, 2218 Hutchison Rd, Flossmoor, IL. Visitation from 10 a.m. until services begin at noon.
