James Fares

James "Jim" Fares, age 78, of Mokena, Illinois — formerly of Chicago Heights, Illinois, and Mesa, Arizona - entered into rest on November 4, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Jim was the devoted husband of Carole Fares and the proud father of James J. (Patrizia) Fares, Matthew (Talia) Fares, Carrie (John) Sekulich, and Larry (Brent) Hunter. He was a cherished grandfather of seven and great-grandfather of four, and a dear brother to Jeannie Dominy and Edward (Kathy) Fares. To his many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, Jim was a steady source of laughter, loyalty, and love.

A proud Vietnam veteran, Jim served his country with courage and honor. After returning home, he poured that same dedication into his work as a small business owner, becoming well known throughout the community for his family's Italian sausage recipe — a labor of love that brought people together for generations.

Jim was an avid golfer, a passionate community leader, and an active participant in local politics, always striving to make a positive difference. Above all, he will be remembered for his generous heart, strong spirit, and the joy he found in time spent with family and friends.

Memorial Wake and Service will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with a memorial service beginning at 1:00 p.m. at Tews-Ryan Funeral Home, 18230 Dixie Highway, Homewood, Illinois.
