Jack R. Jeneson

Jack R. Jeneson, 83, died peacefully on November 9, 2021 at his Chicago home. Dear brother of Lynn (Richard) Zima, cherished uncle of Tracey (Michael) Scodro and Todd (Sally Benson) Zima, great-uncle of Jack, George, and Annie Scodro and Milo and Sam Zima. Jack was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on March 30, 1938 to Else "Snookie" and George Jeneson. In 1946, the family moved to Flossmoor, Illinois, where Jack attended elementary school and enjoyed playing baseball, basketball, and football with his neighborhood friends. He graduated from Bloom High School in 1956, where he was manager of the varsity basketball team. Every year during March Madness, Jack seemed to acquire the same "illness" and convinced his mother that he had to stay home from school to follow the games. He graduated in 1960 from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, where he was a member of the Beta Theta Pi fraternity and Sports Editor of The Miami Student newspaper. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1961 to 1967. As a sports enthusiast, he had the perfect job as the Sports Editor of the Harvey Tribune. Following a move to Chicago, Jack worked in the broadcast advertising business for over 35 years. He was an avid golfer and a member of Olympia Fields Country Club for 65 years. He was an encyclopedia of sports information. He loved all sports and was a Bears, Blackhawks, and White Sox season ticket holder. Jack was so friendly and outgoing and he never met a stranger. He was a very kind and extremely generous man who loved life and people, especially his family. He will be sorely missed.
